Kozan-ji (高山寺) is a quiet mountain temple about an hour from central Kyoto by bus. Three are three temples in this beautiful valley and all may easily be visited on one trip. The tea field there is known as the oldest in Japan. There are four painted scrolls on display there which are said to be the first Japanese manga. The balcony of the temple provides a view of the picturesque Kiyotakigawa River Valley.
